Transport to and from the walk. We can pick you up at your accommodation or any place that is along our travel route, including airports, tourist information centres etc. For any detailed questions re pickups and drop offs please read the detailed itinerary for the trip you are interested in.

Hire Gear
We do hire gear items at a small cost. A comprehensive gear list is attached to each of the detailed itineraries which can be downloaded on the relevant tour page. Aside from those items above, the gear list describes all of the clothing items you are required to bring to ensure that you are comfortable during your trip. Buying Gear
Tarkine Trails participants receive a 10% discount voucher for gear purchased from any Paddy Pallin (external link) store Nationwide. Please let us know if you would like this voucher sent to you once you have paid your deposit. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding gear.
The booking process
Our Aim
The booking process takes place in three simple steps, highlighted below. Our aim is that you are crystal clear regarding the process of booking, payment and logistics regarding your trip. If at any time at all you are unclear regarding anything relating to your trip, we urge you to contact us so that we can assist you in any way possible.
Phone contact
We believe that phone contact is a far clearer communication tool than email and prefer to use this method to communicate wherever possible. Simply call us, or send us an email requesting that we call you along with an appropriate time to do so and we’ll handle the rest.
Step 1
Contact Tarkine Trails by phone or email to let us know that you wish to book. We will let you know the current available trips and then send you the following information,

Link to online booking form (including pre trip preparation program and medical form). Paper version available on request,

An Invoice (if you wish to pay by credit card or EFTPOS),
-
Detailed itinerary (including walk grading and gear list),
-
A pre trip training program that helps you prepare for your walk
Notes Re Payment
Payment can be made by cheque, credit card (phone or internet) or EFTPOS. Your booking is tentatively reserved for 10 days until your deposit arrives. If a tour is close to full and we have other people wanting to book we will contact you to confirm that your payment is on the way. If your departure date is more than 8 weeks away please pay the Aus$350 deposit using the information provided on the invoice. The balance of your payment will be due 8 weeks from your trip departure date. (Note: you can pay your deposit and balance due using the same invoice) If your trip departure date is less than 8 weeks away then the full balance is due with your booking.

Step 3
One to two weeks from departure we will call you to finalise pick up times and gear check times etc. At this point any last minute questions can be answered to ensure you are 100% prepared for your trip. If you are tight for time

Accommodation
To make the task of planning your trip as easy as possible, we have researched a variety of accommodation options in the main towns-cities along our tour routes. Discounts
We have secured you a discounted rate with some of the listed accommodations. To receive your discount, simply mention that you are a Tarkine Trails participant to the accommodation of your choice. Some providers, will contact us to confirm that you are a participant on our trips before providing you with the discount, please see each accommodation listing for specific details re your discount.
